A day in the life of a Soft Tissue Massage Therapist Intern

Ever wondered what it would be like to work in Massage Therapy? Well here’s your chance to find out! A couple of months ago, professional dancer Ghin Munn started retraining for a career in Soft Tissue Massage Therapy. He joined the Restoring Health team as an intern, and hopes to work his way up to a fully qualified Therapist over the course of the next year. Let’s chat to Ghin to find out about his experience so far…

Why do you want to be a Massage Therapist?

Originally it didn’t cross my mind to be one, but Deborah approached me about the opportunity to join Restoring Health as a Massage Therapy intern. When she explained the heart and vision behind Restoring Health, it instantly caught my attention, especially finding out that they donate 51% of their profits to charity. Having been a dancer for many years, I’ve suffered a few minor injuries and have encountered others who have also suffered injuries, but I never knew how to deal with these injuries other than stretching. I had also visited the doctor who told me to stop dancing completely but for me that wasn’t an option because dancing is my passion. Now, I’m being taught how to treat soft tissue injuries (muscles, tendons, ligaments) giving me more knowledge of how to look after my own body, and to share this with other people too.
